In my opinion the blog assignment was actually interesting. It was an easy way to see what others thought about a specific subject or class activity and that was helpful because you could find out of other perspectives and/or points of view. I didn’t identify many of the bloggers but I did gather interesting ideas from some of them.
I enjoyed the class activities and feel that I got the message the professor was trying to get across with them, and I think the blog assignments helped reinforce the point of those activities.
Knowing that the management of the blog was worth 20% of the grade, or in other words as much as an exam, made me put some extra effort in it. If it wouldn’t have been so high of a percentage I probably wouldn’t have posted this on time. That was definitely a good motivation for all students to post on time and try to keep their blogs interesting.
For now I do not think I would continue posting anything in any blog. I think that if you want to post something worth reading to others, you have to dedicate good time to it, and I do not have much of that.
Finally, I do think the blog should remain as a component of the course. It will help the student understand subjects of the class better and even make new friends.

Mauricio, I agree with you. Since the blog was worth so much of our grade, it gave us incentive to do as well as we could on it. In the process, we gained some interesting perspectives into things we otherwise might not have realized.
ReplyDeleteHaving to comment after class activities also allowed us to be able reinforce what we learned. I actually still remember some of it, which I can't really say for other classes.
The blog should remain a component for all of the above reasons. It provides one of the most effective methods for learning the material
I comletely agree that blogging is an effective method for learning the material. It helped to reinforce some management concepts we learned through activities and lectures that we will remember since that. And it is true that if it were not 20% of the grade not all of us would post their entries. It was the most incentive to do that.
ReplyDeleteMauricio,
ReplyDeleteI know and understand that for some of us that we would not blog if it wasn't for the grade. This is totall ok for some people, but for me I was more curious about the others experience and preception in thier group activities and how they overcome the challenges they encounter. Like you said about not having the time to continuous blogging might be true at this time because there is not reward. This is very similar to the motivation activity that professor had in class when he called up on a student to sing a few lines of a song. Even thought it was difficult because there was no incentive to motivate the person to do it. So over all this concepts of sharing ideas and thought on class material is a great experience for me and although the grade plays a role I was more interest in the substance.
